That is what scientists call a sidereal day, meaning the time the planet needs to spin around once. But Venus only takes about 225 Earth days to complete one trip around the Sun. So yes, on Venus, the planet finishes a whole year before it finishes one full spin. It is like starting a lazy turn in your desk chair and somehow circling the coffee shop before you are done.

Why Venus Spins So Slowly

Venus rotates at an incredibly sluggish pace compared with most planets. Earth, for example, wraps up one rotation in about 24 hours. Venus takes 243 Earth days, which makes it the slowest spinner among the major planets. Scientists are still studying exactly why it ended up this way, but the fact itself is clear.
